The Importance of an Electric Company Switch
With so many people gathering to enjoy your event, electrical safety must take center stage. Because of this, local guidelines and safety standards demand a way to protect festival goers, staff, and performers from electrical faults. Due to its ability to allow or stop the circulation of electricity throughout your system, our Electric Company Switch is the bread and butter of electrical compliance and safety. It ensures that your event will run smoothly without missing a beat, providing a safe and unforgettable experience for everyone involved!
Although these switches can be found at almost every event center, their versatility extends far beyond the stage. They are frequently used in settings that require temporary power, such as construction sites and disaster relief centers. Their critical function and rock-solid design make them an excellent choice for times when you need to prevent overloading, ensure safety during adverse weather conditions, or shut off power for routine testing. This means our Company Switch is the headlining choice for anyone needing to safely manage and distribute power.
A Detailed View of the Electric Company Switch
In simple terms, a Company Switch is a power distribution panel that uses either a circuit breaker, molded case switch, or fusible switch to control the circulation of electricity throughout your power system. We find that our Company Switches with 80% or 100% rated circuit breakers are most popular with our customers because of their ability to provide both magnetic and thermal protection. Fusible switches offer the highest short-circuit protection, but must be replaced each time it stops an overcurrent or short circuit. Finally, molded case switches don’t offer any circuit protection, so they can only be used in power systems that already have upstream circuit protection.
Since Company Switches frequent both indoor and outdoor events, they rely on a sturdy enclosure to preserve all of its internal wiring. Our switch is made from a carbon-steel enclosure coated with ArmorTEK to fight corrosion that can damage your switch in the long run. You can also choose between a NEMA 3R or NEMA 12 rated enclosure to amp up protection against wind, rain, and dust. No matter your preference, our switch features a wall-mountable design that can be installed into your power system faster than you can say, “Mic Check.”
As we briefly mentioned, each of our switches features an output source connection composed of a bottom-mounted quick-connect Camlock Panel so that you can install your Electrical Company Switch without missing a beat. It’s important to note that our camlocks are color-coded according to their designated voltage and will include one row of camlocks for our 60A, 100A, 200A, and 400A ratings, and two rows of camlocks for our 800A configurations. For example, our Company Switch is offered in single-phase 120/240V, 120/208V, or 277/480V. A switch that is rated for 120/208 volts will have black, red, blue, white, and green camlocks, while a switch rated for 120/240 volts will include black, red, white, and green camlocks.
Our Electric Company Switch pairs well with our Banded Sets, 4/0 AWG Type SC Cable Extensions, and 4/0 AWG Type SC Cable Extensions. Each cable is fitted with a Series 16 inline camlock that effortlessly connects with our Company Switch to provide you with reliable power distribution. No matter your choice of Cable Assembly, each of our cables is made with ultra-flexible conductors that are wrapped in a durable cable jacket that can stand up to repeated use.
